01/26/2012 - Recently, West Golf Course in Mogadore has been on the radar of a few big name businesses.  Diebold and Newell Rubbermaid are two of these names.  Late 2011, Diebold announced that they were going to stay in NE Ohio after a tax incentive agreement was reached involving Governor Kasich's office.  Newell Rubbermaid also announced that it would be closing its Wooster plant and possibly relocating to Mogadore.  Diebold has announced that it will be building its multi-million dollar facility in Green.

According to the Beacon Journal and other sources, Mogadore officials would not agree to rezone the golf course land, so Newell Rubbermaid has withdrawn its offer to purchase the golf course property.  Surrounding communities have responded and are attempting to lure Newell Rubbermaid to sites outside of Mogadore.  Construction of this new facility will bring dozens of much needed construction jobs and over 100 new permanent jobs.  Along with the jobs comes a long term tax revenue base for the community, including the schools.  This deal is worth MILLIONS of DOLLARS in tax revenue which would lessen the financial burden on the current residents of Mogadore and future generations.

01/10/2012 - The street projects in Mogadore are underway!  If you are a resident in the Virgil, Charles and Eleanor Street area and you have gutter drains that go to the street, be sure that the construction workers do not bury the end of your drain pipe.  Buried, they will not drain properly and could cause water to back up and run against your foundation.  If you have any issues, contact the Village.

08/16/2011 - It appears that Mogadore officials will get an automatic approval by the voters this year.  The mayor's seat and 4 council positions are up for election, but only the current office holders filed petitions to run for the next term.

07-04-2011 - On July 2, 1776, Congress approved the wording for the Declaration of Independence.  On July 4, 1776, delegates of the Continental Congress voted to accept it and on July 8, 1776, the Declaration was read publicly for the first time outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia, accompanied by the ringing of the Liberty Bell.

After each of the 56 delegates signed the Declaration, Samuel Adams declared: We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come.

The signers paid a tremendous price for our freedom: 5 were arrested by the British as traitors, 12 had their homes looted and burned by the enemy, 17 lost their fortunes, 2 lost sons in the Continental Army and 9 fought and died during the Revolutionary War.

Happy Birthday America!

06-24-2011 - CONGRATS - Two former weight loss surgery patients of Summa Health System are embarking on a bicycling trip all the way to the East Coast next week. Tom Bilcze of Mogadore and Chuck Gough of Cuyahoga Falls will leave from Pittsburgh tomorrow and cycle across the Great Allegheny Passage and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal trails to Washington, D.C. The two friends will travel more than 325 miles in 9 days carrying all of their supplies on their bicycles.   Tom and Chuck will be maintaining daily blog posts with photos and video at http://crossingmountains.com/.

They became cyclists after weight loss surgery through Summa’s Bariatric Care Center — Tom has lost about 80 lbs. since lap band surgery in 2008 and Chuck has lost 135 lbs. since gastric bypass in 2009. They are determined to make it to the Chesapeake Bay – the bike trip of a lifetime – and are prepared for the mental and physical challenge.

Both men were once insulin-dependent diabetics and had other health problems including heart disease that required medication. Before, they wouldn’t have dreamed of taking a trip like this, but today, they are at a healthy weight, off many medications and physically fit. Since their surgeries, they have both taken on progressively challenging events like marathons and bike excursions and are now embarking on this ride that will last from June 25 to July 3.   They are both founders of the Akron-area bike riding weight loss support group The Spin Offs. Several of The Spin Offs are patients and former patients of Summa’s Bariatric Care Center. Read more about their stories at: http://crossingmountains.com/meet-chuck/ and http://crossingmountains.com/meet-tom/.
